Rwanda had already done most of the work in the first leg, recording a convincing <strong>3\u20130 victory at Kigali Pel\u00e9 Stadium<\/strong> on September 30.\u00a0<strong>Rwanda survive Sudan test<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rwanda entered the return leg with a three-goal advantage and faced a difficult task away from home. Sudan managed to take the lead, but the Rwandan side responded in the second half to secure a 1\u20131 draw and, more importantly, a <strong>4\u20131 aggregate victory<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The result means coach <strong>Eric Nshimiyimana<\/strong> and his players can now turn their attention to the next stage of the qualification campaign.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/gospeltodaynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/8df0c9f0-4da2-4908-8c26-affc4edf7c45-1024x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-103739\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gospeltodaynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/8df0c9f0-4da2-4908-8c26-affc4edf7c45-1024x1024.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/gospeltodaynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/8df0c9f0-4da2-4908-8c26-affc4edf7c45-300x300.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/gospeltodaynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/8df0c9f0-4da2-4908-8c26-affc4edf7c45-150x150.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/gospeltodaynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/8df0c9f0-4da2-4908-8c26-affc4edf7c45-768x768.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/gospeltodaynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/8df0c9f0-4da2-4908-8c26-affc4edf7c45.jpeg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rwanda\u2019s first-leg victory in Kigali came through goals from <strong>Abdul Niyigena, Honore Shingiro and Jesus Paul Sindi<\/strong>, giving the team a strong advantage before travelling to Juba.<br><strong>Cameroon next for Rwanda<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rwanda\u2019s reward for eliminating Sudan is a second-round meeting with <strong>Cameroon<\/strong>, who received a bye into this stage of the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to CAF\u2019s official qualification schedule, the second-round first legs are scheduled for <strong>9 November 2026<\/strong>, with the return legs set for <strong>17 November 202<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Rwanda-Cameroon tie will therefore be a major test for the young Amavubi, with the winner moving on to the decisive third round of qualification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Road to Egypt 2027<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 2027 U23 Africa Cup of Nations will be hosted by <strong>Egypt<\/strong>. The qualification process consists of three rounds, with the seven teams that win their third-round ties joining hosts Egypt at the final tournament.\u00a0<br>The tournament is also important beyond the AFCON title itself. The competition forms part of Africa\u2019s qualification pathway for the <strong>2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles<\/strong>, adding further significance to Rwanda\u2019s campaig<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Rwanda now have Cameroon standing between them and the final qualifying round.
