FERWAFA Confirms 2026 Super Cup Line-Up as Mukura Replace APR FC

Following several discussions between the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) and APR FC, Rayon Sports, Kiyovu Sports and Police FC, it has now been confirmed that the 2026 Super Cup will be contested by four teams, with two semi-final matches followed by the final, as originally planned.
However, after APR FC informed FERWAFA that it would not participate in the competition under the four-team format, Mukura Victory Sports & Loisirs, who finished fifth in the 2025/26 BK Pro League, have been selected to take APR FC’s place as the fourth participating team.
The semi-finals will be played on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Kigali Pelé Stadium:
- 3:00 PM: Kiyovu Sports vs Mukura VS&L
- 6:30 PM: Rayon Sports vs Police FC
The Super Cup final, together with the trophy presentation ceremony, will take place on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 3:00 PM at Kigali Pelé Stadium.
FERWAFA has also confirmed that each participating club will receive a participation fee, while the prize money for the champions and runners-up has been increased. More details regarding the financial rewards will be announced soon.

FERWAFA Confirms 2026 Super Cup Line-Up as Mukura Replace APR FC
KIGALI, Rwanda — August 18, 2026: The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has officially confirmed the format and participating teams for the 2026 Super Cup, with Mukura Victory Sports & Loisirs joining Rayon Sports, Police FC and Kiyovu Sports after APR FC opted not to take part in the four-team competition.
The decision follows discussions between FERWAFA and the four clubs that had initially been involved in preparations for the tournament.
According to FERWAFA, APR FC communicated that it would not participate in the Super Cup under the proposed four-team format. As a result, Mukura Victory Sports & Loisirs, who finished fifth in the 2025/26 BK Pro League, have been invited to complete the four-team line-up.
The tournament will maintain the format that had originally been planned, featuring two semi-final matches and a final.
Kiyovu face Mukura in first semi-final
The first semi-final will see Kiyovu Sports take on Mukura Victory Sports & Loisirs at Kigali Pelé Stadium on Thursday, August 27.
The match is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
Mukura will be looking to make the most of their unexpected opportunity after finishing fifth in the previous league campaign, while Kiyovu will aim to progress to the final and compete for the first major silverware of the new season.
Rayon Sports meet Police FC
The second semi-final will be played later the same day, with Rayon Sports facing Police FC at 6:30 PM.
Rayon Sports enter the competition as one of the teams expected to challenge for the trophy, particularly after their successful 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup campaign.
Police FC, meanwhile, will be hoping to upset the Blues and secure their place in the final.
Final set for August 30
The two semi-final winners will meet in the final on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Kigali Pelé Stadium.
The final is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 PM, followed by the official trophy presentation ceremony.
FERWAFA has also announced that every participating club will receive a participation fee. In addition, the financial prizes for both the eventual champions and runners-up have been increased compared with previous arrangements.
The federation said further details regarding the prize money will be communicated in due course.
With the new season approaching, the Super Cup will provide the four clubs with an early opportunity to compete for silverware and test their squads ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
