APR FC Clarifies Lubumbashi Travel Reports Ahead of CAF Champions League Tie

KIGALI, Rwanda — August 31, 2026 — APR FC has moved to clarify reports circulating on social media regarding its upcoming CAF Champions League first-round encounter against Les Aigles du Congo, particularly claims that the Rwandan champions will travel to Lubumbashi aboard a private jet.

The club says the reports about a private-jet trip are not true, urging supporters and football followers to rely on official communication from the club for confirmed information.

The clarification comes amid growing attention surrounding APR FC’s preparations for the continental fixture. Reports had circulated online claiming that the Rwanda Premier League champions would travel to Lubumbashi by private aircraft ahead of the first-leg encounter.

CAF had confirmed Lubumbashi as the venue

The venue issue has been a major talking point in the build-up to the match.

APR FC had requested that the first leg be moved from the Democratic Republic of Congo, citing security and health concerns. However, reports published on August 28 indicated that CAF rejected the request and maintained the fixture in Lubumbashi at the Frédéric Kibassa Maliba Stadium.

The first leg is scheduled for the opening days of September, with Les Aigles du Congo listed as the home side, while the return leg will be played in Rwanda.

APR FC waiting on official travel arrangements

Despite the reports circulating online, APR FC says supporters should not consider information about the team’s travel arrangements including the alleged use of a private jet as official.

The club’s position is that the relevant arrangements will be communicated once they are officially confirmed.

This comes as APR FC continues preparations for its return to CAF Champions League football after being crowned Rwanda’s champions for the 2025/26 season.

A highly anticipated continental battle

The tie will see APR FC face Les Aigles du Congo in what is expected to be a competitive two-legged battle for progression in Africa’s premier club competition.

The winner of the tie will advance to the next stage of the CAF Champions League, while the losing side will see its Champions League campaign come to an end.

For APR FC, the encounter represents another opportunity to establish itself on the continental stage after a successful domestic campaign.

APR FC supporters are therefore urged to await official communication from the club regarding the team’s departure date, mode of transport and other logistical details surrounding the Lubumbashi trip.
