Historic Achievement! Rwanda U17 Qualify for AFCON U17 Finals

Rwanda’s U17 national team has secured qualification for the Africa U17 Cup of Nations finals for the first time in history after defeating Ethiopia 2-1 in the third-place play-off of the CECAFA U17 qualifying tournament.
The victory marks a significant milestone for Rwandan football, with the young Amavubi earning a place at the continental finals and raising hopes for the future of the country’s football development.
Rwanda overcame Ethiopia in a competitive encounter, scoring twice to secure the victory and confirm their qualification for the tournament.
The achievement is particularly significant because Rwanda’s last appearance at the Africa U17 Cup of Nations was in 2011, when the country hosted the competition.

Head coach Jimmy Mulisa deserves congratulations alongside his technical team and the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) for their work in guiding the young players through the qualifying campaign.
The qualification provides Rwanda’s emerging talents with an opportunity to compete against some of Africa’s best young footballers and gain valuable international experience.
It also represents an important step in the development of the next generation of Rwandan footballers, as the country continues to invest in youth football and build for the future.
With the historic qualification secured, attention will now turn to the AFCON U17 finals, where Rwanda will aim to make a strong impression on the continental stage.
For Rwanda, the message is clear: the future is bright, and the young Amavubi have given the country another reason to celebrate.
