Bakame and Rayon Sports Mutually Agree to End Contract

Eric Ndayishimiye, popularly known as Bakame, has parted ways with Rayon Sports, where he served as the club’s goalkeeping coach, after terminating the remaining one year of his contract due to a disagreement with the club’s management over new responsibilities assigned to him involving coaching the youth team.

This comes just days after Rayon Sports announced the appointment of French coach Hugo Tricárico as the new goalkeeping coach for the senior team.

On the morning of Monday, June 29, 2026, Bakame held talks with Rayon Sports Interim President Abdallah Murenzi to discuss his role at the club. During the meeting, the management informed him that head coach Francis Haringingo wanted to work with only one goalkeeping coach in the senior team. As a result, Bakame was asked to move to the club’s Under-20 team.

Bakame rejected the proposal, arguing that the contract he had signed was specifically for the senior team and that he could not be reassigned to the youth setup. This led both parties to mutually agree to terminate the contract, with Rayon Sports required to pay him three months’ salary as compensation, in accordance with the terms of the agreement.

Rayon Sports spokesperson Olivier Gakwaya confirmed Bakame’s departure from the club, where he had been serving as goalkeeping coach since June 2025.

Bakame leaves Rayon Sports having built a remarkable legacy. Before becoming a coach, he was one of the club’s iconic goalkeepers, representing the Blue and White side from 2013 to 2018.

During his playing career at the club, he helped Rayon Sports win two Rwanda Premier League titles, cementing his place as one of the club’s notable figures.
