At the 2025 edition of the CECAFA Kagame Cup held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, APR FC represented Rwanda and finished in third place, while Singida Black Stars were crowned champions.
The CECAFA Kagame Cup has been sponsored by President Paul Kagame since 2002, with the tournament returning to Rwanda for the first time since it was last hosted there in 2019.
The draw was conducted by Haruna Niyonzima, a former Rwanda national team (Amavubi) midfielder who also played for Rayon Sports, APR FC, and Simba SC of Tanzania. Simba SC will be making their first appearance in the tournament after an eight-year absence.
