Al Hilal Partnership Gives CECAFA Kagame Cup 2026 a Major FinancialBoost

The 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup has received a major boost after Sudanese giants Al Hilal announced a sponsorship package worth US$100,000 per year to support the tournament over the next three years. The partnership is expected to strengthen the competition’s financial stability while improving its profile across East and Central Africa.

Al Hilal’s investment comes at a crucial time as Rwanda prepares to host the tournament in Kigali. The sponsorship is expected to help CECAFA enhance tournament organization, improve the experience for participating clubs, and attract more commercial partners in future editions.

The Sudanese champions have also established themselves as one of the region’s strongest clubs in recent years, finishing runners-up in the 2025 CECAFA Kagame Cup before committing to support the competition financially. Their involvement reflects growing confidence in the tournament’s potential to become one of Africa’s leading regional club competitions.

Rwanda was selected to host the 2026 edition after submitting its bid, with the CECAFA Executive Committee approving the country’s proposal. Kigali will once again welcome the region’s top clubs as it continues to strengthen its reputation as a destination capable of hosting major football events.

CECAFA officials hope the combination of strong organization, quality football, and new commercial partnerships such as Al Hilal’s sponsorship will increase the tournament’s visibility, attract more fans, and create long-term sustainability for the competition.
