Bring the Trophy Home’ General Mubarakh Muganga,Inspires APR FC Before CECAFA Kagame Cup Campaign

Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Chief of Defence Staff and Honorary President of APR FC, General Mubarakh Muganga, has challenged the club to uphold its winning tradition by lifting the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup trophy.
General Muganga visited the team’s training session at Shyorongi on Wednesday evening, where he met with players, coaches, and club officials ahead of APR FC’s opening match against Kenya’s Gor Mahia.
During his address, he reminded the squad of APR FC’s rich history in the CECAFA Kagame Cup, emphasizing that the club has always been one of the region’s most successful teams. He urged the players to show discipline, unity, commitment, and determination throughout the tournament, stressing that wearing the APR FC badge comes with the responsibility of competing for titles.
The visit served as a major morale boost for the players as they intensified preparations for the regional championship. The squad responded with confidence and focus, determined to begin their campaign with a positive result.
APR FC will kick off their CECAFA Kagame Cup campaign against Gor Mahia on Friday, 24 July 2026, at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali. The match is expected to attract thousands of fans as two of East Africa’s biggest football clubs renew their rivalry on the regional stage.
With home support behind them and high expectations from the club’s leadership, APR FC will be aiming to make a strong statement from the opening whistle as they pursue another CECAFA Kagame Cup title.
