Rayon Sports Sign Burundian Midfielder Elie Eldhino Mokono

Rayon Sports FC have strengthened their squad with the arrival of experienced Burundian midfielder Elie Eldhino Mokono, as the Rwandan giants continue preparations for the new season and their upcoming international campaign.

Mokono, born on 23 February 1994, brings valuable experience to the Rayon Sports midfield. The Burundian international has featured in African football and has experience representing his national team, qualities that could prove important as Rayon Sports look to compete on multiple fronts.

Before his move to Kigali, Mokono was playing for Singida Fountain Gate in Tanzania. During his time in Tanzanian football, the midfielder demonstrated his ability to contribute in attack as well as in midfield, including finding the back of the net.

His arrival comes at a time when Rayon Sports are actively strengthening their squad following their successful 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup campaign. The club are also preparing for continental football, with their CAF Confederation Cup campaign providing another major challenge.

Mokono’s experience, physical presence and ability to contribute offensively could give Rayon Sports another option in the middle of the park. His arrival is expected to increase competition for places within the squad and provide the coaching staff with greater depth.
