Rayon Sports Lose 2-0 to Black Bulls in CAF Confederation Cup First Leg

Rayon Sports suffered a 2-0 defeat against Mozambique’s Black Bulls in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup at Amahoro Stadium on Saturday evening, October 17, 2026.

The Rwandan side now faces a difficult task in the return leg as it seeks to overturn the two-goal deficit and secure a place in the group stage of the continental competition.

Black Bulls took the lead in the 54th minute through Abdu Gueye, putting pressure on the home side as Rayon Sports searched for an equaliser.

The visitors then strengthened their advantage in stoppage time when Danilo Muze scored in the 90+4th minute to seal a 2-0 victory.

The result leaves Rayon Sports with plenty of work to do ahead of the decisive second leg in Maputo, Mozambique.

The return fixture is scheduled for October 24, 2026, where Rayon Sports must score at least twice without conceding to force the tie into extra time, while a victory by three or more goals would secure qualification in normal time.

Black Bulls, meanwhile, will travel into the second leg with a two-goal advantage as they aim to finish the job and advance to the group stage.

The winner of the two-legged tie will qualify for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, while the losing side will see its continental campaign come to an end.
