APR FC’s Ishimwe Pierre is suffering from a lung illness.

APR FC head coach Talib Abderrahman has said that goalkeeper Ishimwe Pierre has not yet returned to action because he is suffering from a lung problem.

The coach made these remarks while responding to a question from ISIMBI about the goalkeeper’s prolonged absence from the pitch, which is now approaching three months.

The situation surrounding the goalkeeper has caused a lot of confusion, especially since it began on February 10, 2026, when his coach initially said he had been given a break to train with Intare FC so he could relieve pressure, which had increased due to his performances on the field — particularly after the goals he conceded against Bugesera FC.

Then, on February 23, 2026, APR FC released an official statement saying the goalkeeper had suffered an injury that would keep him out for two months.

Now, nearly three months later, he has still not resumed training.

Talib Abderrahman told ISIMBI that Ishimwe Pierre was diagnosed with a lung condition and has not yet fully recovered.

He said:
“Ishimwe Pierre had a lung problem. He was in pain. After every match, he would experience difficulties. Following medical examinations carried out at Kanombe Military Hospital, doctors discovered a problem in his left lung. He needed at least two or three months of complete rest and medical care, with no training, because the lungs are essential for breathing. We gave him time off, but he may begin returning next week.”

The coach added that this is the same type of issue that striker Cheikh Djibril Ouattara once suffered from, which also kept him out for some time.

However, despite the coach’s explanation, there are reports suggesting that Ishimwe Pierre’s relationship with APR FC has deteriorated due to concerns about his behavior off the pitch, and there is a possibility that his contract may not be renewed.
