Rayon Sports Target Striker, Midfielder and Goalkeeper to Complete Squad

Rayon Sports 80% Done With Squad Rebuilding Ahead of 2026/27 Season

Rayon Sports has announced that it has completed about 80% of its squad rebuilding process ahead of the 2026/27 season, with only a few additions still needed, including a goalkeeper, a midfielder, and a prolific striker who can help the club win trophies.

The club’s Transitional President, Abdallah Murenzi, confirmed that after focusing mainly on signing local players to address weaknesses from last season, the club is now concentrating on recruiting foreign players and finalizing negotiations with the remaining targets.

In the goalkeeping department, Rayon Sports is looking for another goalkeeper to compete alongside Drissa Kouyaté and Mugisha Yves. The club is currently in talks with Olivier Kwizera, whose contract recently expired.

For the midfield, the club is seeking one foreign player, while in attack they are searching for a proven goal scorer capable of leading the team to silverware.

Murenzi also revealed that Rayon Sports is in advanced negotiations with Mukura VS to sign Elie Tatou and Zuberi. Discussions are also ongoing regarding Ndayishimiye Richard, whose contract has expired, and Henry Msanga, who recently parted ways with Police FC.

Apart from player recruitment, Rayon Sports is also looking for a new assistant coach with a CAF Licence A qualification to replace Lomami Marcel, who has already left the club.

Completing transfer business early remains a key objective, as Rayon Sports plans to begin preseason training on Monday, June 29, 2026. The preparations will focus on upcoming competitions, including Rayon Day, the CECAFA Kagame Cup, and the CAF Confederation Cup.
