Rayon Sports Coach Demands Behavior Change Following Peace Cup Draw

Rayon Sports head coach, Haringingo Francis Christian Mbaya, has stated that there must be a change in the behavior of the team’s players, particularly on the pitch. This follows the first leg of the Peace Cup semi-final, where the team drew 1-1 against Gorilla FC.

Coach’s Assessment of Team Performance

Haringingo emphasized that while the team is creating goal-scoring opportunities, their inability to convert them, combined with behavioral issues, needs addressing.

“There are things we must change, specifically regarding behavior.behavior on the pitch. Rayon Sports is a big club; that jersey carries weight,” the coach stated.

He noted that the team’s recent run without a win has impacted player confidence, which he is actively trying to rectify.

“I think there are changes; first and foremost, we had to fix things on the pitch. Secondly, we started creating chances,we played well and created opportunities. Now, what remains is to trust ourselves because when a team hasn’t won in a while, the players lose confidence.”

Disciplinary Update: Aziz Bassane

Regarding the situation involving player Aziz Bassane, the coach clarified that it is a disciplinary matter currently under investigation by the club.

“Regarding Bassane’s issue, the club is following up on it. There was behavior he displayed, and they are conducting an investigation. In general, people should know that Rayon Sports is an institution with structures, so players must behave well and show it on and off the pitch so that the team can continue to compete.”

He added that there is no fixed timeline for the situation: “Once the investigation concludes and we find out whether it is true or not, he could return to the pitch.”

Call to Supporters

Haringingo expressed gratitude to the fans and urged them to continue supporting the team as they look toward upcoming challenges, including the derby.

“Fans need confidence, but those who came today saw that there are changes. What I want to ask is that they come,we are ready and want to please them. Let them accompany us to Huye; we are preparing for the derby. I think if we continue like this, we will give them joy.”

Current Standing and Outlook

The coach remains optimistic, confirming that the club still has a fighting chance to win both the League title and the Peace Cup. He has called on the players to remain committed, disciplined, and mindful of the club they represent.

  • League Position: 2nd place
  • Points: 44
