Jean Claude Girumugisha Wins BK Pro League Player of the Season Award, Drives Away with RWF 15 Million Car

Burundian forward Jean Claude Girumugisha of Al Hilal SC has been crowned the Best Player of the 2025/26 BK Pro League season, earning the competition’s biggest individual prize—a brand-new car worth RWF 15 million.

The award was presented during the inaugural BK Pro League Awards, a historic ceremony introduced by the Rwanda Premier League to recognize outstanding performers across the season. The Player of the Season prize, sponsored by ePoBox, marked the first time such a valuable reward has been offered in Rwandan football.  

Girumugisha was one of the standout performers for Al Hilal SC, the Sudanese giants who were granted permission by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Rwanda Premier League to compete in Rwanda because of the ongoing conflict in Sudan. The club made an immediate impact by winning the league title, with Girumugisha scoring nine goals and playing a key role in their successful campaign.  

The talented forward beat strong competition from Mbonyumwami Taiba (Marine FC), Madické Kane (Al Hilal SC), Djibril Ouattara (APR FC), and Byiringiro Jean Gilbert (APR FC) to claim the league’s highest individual honour.  

Girumugisha’s outstanding performances throughout the season have further cemented his reputation as one of the finest young talents in East African football. His contribution helped Al Hilal dominate the league and finish the season as champions despite playing away from their home country.
