APR FC Get the Win, But It Explains Nothing About Their CECAFA Campaign

The curtain came down on an exciting Group A campaign at the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup with both APR FC and Gor Mahia claiming crucial victories on the final matchday in Kigali. 

Hosts APR FC produced a determined performance to defeat Uganda’s Vipers SC 2-1, ending the group stage on a high after recovering from a difficult start to the tournament. The victory showcased the Rwandan champions’ resilience and fighting spirit in front of their home supporters. 

In the other Group A fixture, Kenya’s Gor Mahia edged Garde Républicaine of Djibouti 1-0 to secure all three points. The narrow victory ensured the Kenyan giants finished the group stage strongly after an intense battle for qualification. 

The final results marked the end of one of the tournament’s most competitive groups, with every point proving decisive in the race for the knockout stage. Attention now turns to the remaining group fixtures and confirmation of the teams advancing to the semi-finals of the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup.
