CAF Interclub Draw: APR FC Set for Tough Route as Rayon Sports Face Cameroon’s Panthère Sportive

Rwanda’s representatives in the 2026/27 CAF Interclub competitions have discovered their opponents following the official draw, with both APR FC and Rayon Sports facing demanding preliminary-round fixtures.

APR FC, Rwanda’s champions, have been drawn against Democratic Republic of Congo side Aigle du Congo in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League. The first leg will be played away in DR Congo before the return fixture in Kigali.

Should APR FC progress to the second preliminary round, they will face Egyptian giants Zamalek, one of Africa’s most successful clubs. The potential clash would represent one of APR FC’s biggest continental tests in recent years.

Elsewhere in the CAF Champions League draw, Sudan’s Al Hilal will take on Burundi’s Aigle Noir for a place in the next round.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Rayon Sports have been paired with Panthère Sportive of Cameroon in the preliminary round. The first leg is scheduled to be played in Cameroon between 4 and 6 September 2026, while the return leg will be hosted in Kigali between 11 and 13 September 2026.

Rayon Sports will be aiming to secure a positive away result before relying on home support in Kigali to book their place in the next stage of Africa’s second-tier club competition.

The draws set up an exciting continental campaign for Rwanda’s two biggest clubs, with APR FC chasing a place in the CAF Champions League group stage and Rayon Sports targeting a deep run in the CAF Confederation Cup.
