Rayon Sports Reach Peace Cup 2026 Semi-Finals

Rayon Sports secured a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 Peace Cup after defeating Police FC 4-2 on penalties. The second-leg quarter-final match ended in a goalless draw, just like the first leg.
The match, played at Kigali Pelé Stadium, was highly competitive, with both teams pushing hard for a winning goal, but neither side managed to score during the 90 minutes.
Rayon Sports started the game strongly, applying early pressure in search of a goal, but Police FC’s defense held firm.
On the other hand, Police FC also created chances through players like Ani Elijah and his teammates, but goalkeeper Kwizera Olivier was in excellent form, denying them scoring opportunities.
In the second half, the match remained balanced. Several clear chances were created, especially by Rayon Sports, but their strikers failed to convert them. Police FC were reduced to 10 men in the 51st minute after receiving a red card, which affected their performance, although they continued to defend resolutely.
In the closing minutes, Rayon Sports intensified their pressure while Police FC dropped deep to protect their goal. However, extra time ended without any change, forcing the match into a penalty shootout.
During the shootout, both teams initially struggled, missing their first penalties. Rayon Sports then regained composure, scoring four out of five, while Police FC managed only two, including a miss from Issah Yakubu, whose shot hit the crossbar.
The decisive penalty was converted by Fall Ngagne, sealing Rayon Sports’ victory and qualification for the semi-finals.
In the next round, Rayon Sports will face Gorilla FC, who eliminated AS Kigali, while the other semi-final will see APR FC take on Etincelles FC.
