APR FC Striker Mamadou Sy Joins Kwibuka Message, Calls for Fight Against Genocide Ideology

During the ongoing commemoration period of Kwibuka, Mamadou Sy, a forward for APR FC, has added his voice to the national message of remembrance and unity through a powerful social media post.

In a video shared on Instagram,Mamadou Sy said that Let’s fight against genocidal ideology.”

Accompanied by the hashtag #Kwibuka, his message aligns with the broader national and global call to remember the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi while actively rejecting hate and division.

Mamadou Sy’s message highlights how athletes, especially those playing in Rwanda, are increasingly using their platforms to promote unity and educate fans, both locally and internationally, about the dangers of genocide ideology.

The message comes at a time when Rwanda is marking over three decades since the 1994 tragedy, in which more than one million people were killed in just 100 days.Despite the country’s progress in rebuilding unity, authorities and survivors continue to warn that genocide ideology still exists, particularly through hate speech and misinformation spread on social media,This is why campaigns during Kwibuka increasingly focus on youth and digital platforms, encouraging individuals like Mamadou Sy to use their voices to challenge harmful narratives and promote truth.

APR FC, one of Rwanda’s most successful clubs, has historically been linked with national values of resilience, patriotism, and unity. The involvement of its players in commemoration activities reinforces the role of sport as more than entertainment,it becomes a vehicle for education and social cohesion.

While Mamadou Sy continues to build his career at APR FC, his participation in Kwibuka messaging shows a deeper integration into Rwandan society. It reflects an understanding that being a footballer in Rwanda also carries a responsibility,to stand for values that go beyond the game.

Mamadou Sy’s message may be brief, but its impact is significant. In just a few words, he reinforces a national commitment:
to remember the past, confront genocide ideology, and protect the future

As Rwanda continues its journey of remembrance and renewal, voices from all sectors, including sports, remain crucial in ensuring that the message of “Never Again” is not only remembered but actively upheld.
