Etincelles FC surprised APR FC by defeating them in Rubavu.

Before the match began, a minute of silence was observed to commemorate the 32nd anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

APR FC players wore grey armbands on their left arms, while the Etincelles players wore black ones.

Etincelles FC showed extraordinary strength to overcome APR FC, who remained on 52 points as they continue to look for ways to close the three-point gap separating them from Al-Hilal SC.

Despite the win, Etincelles FC remains in 16th place with 25 points on the provisional league table.

Both of Etincelles FC’s goals were scored in the first half of the match. Iraguha Awadi opened the scoring in the 28th minute, before Dusabimana Anselme scored the second goal in the 31st minute.

APR FC’s only goal came in stoppage time, scored by Djibril Ouattara following an assist from Mamadou Sy.

This defeat for the “Army” side confirmed the words of Etincelles FC coach, Bizimana Abdu, commonly known as “Bekeni.” Before this match, the coach had said, “I feel like the pitch we play on is like hell, and every team we meet here will face trouble.”

Bekeni had promised the club’s fans that he would win two out of the three matches they would play against APR FC this season.

In other matches played today, Gicumbi FC defeated AS Muhanga 2-0, with goals scored by Bitwayiki Bahati Clement and Niwenshuti Steven. Mukura VS also defeated Al Merrikh 1-0, with a goal by Hakizimana Zuberi.

The match between Etincelles FC and APR FC ended with some fans giving referee Twagirumukiza Abdoul a hard time, demanding that he blow the final whistle after the seven minutes of added time.
