“We have fulfilled our responsibilities; now it is up to the leadership to decide.” Francis Haringingo

Rayon Sports head coach, Francis Haringingo, has stated that while the coaching staff has fulfilled its duty by suspending certain players, it is now up to the management to decide their future with the club.

This follows the team’s decision to suspend two players, Aziz Bassane and Yannick Bangala, due to gross misconduct.

Reasons for the Suspensions

  • Aziz Bassane: Suspended indefinitely for missing Friday’s training session, adding to a history of disciplinary issues for which he had recently been sanctioned.
  • Yannick Bangala: Suspended for insubordination after refusing the coach’s instruction to warm up for a substitution during the match against Marines FC.

Coach Haringingo’s Stance

Coach Haringingo emphasized the importance of professionalism, noting that certain behaviors are unacceptable, especially given the team’s current situation.

“In football, it is important to be professional. We see things and sometimes you [the media] give us more information than we even have that are simply inappropriate for a team to experience, especially during this period,” Haringingo said.

He added that while the coaching staff tries to support the team, every player must understand their individual responsibilities. Regarding a potential return for the duo, he clarified that the matter is no longer in the coaches’ hands.

“The doors are always open. As coaches, we have done our part, and now the management will do theirs. There is a chance [for them to return], but the final decision rests with the leadership. We will wait and see how it unfolds.”

Both players have been suspended indefinitely and were absent during the Peace Cup semi-final return leg against Gorilla FC. Despite their absence, Rayon Sports secured a 0-0 draw, advancing to the final on a 1-1 aggregate score.

  • Yannick Bangala: Suspended for disrespecting the coach.
  • Aziz Bassane: Suspended indefinitely.
  • Management’s Role: Coach Haringingo confirmed that the board will make the final call on their reinstatement.
