Group B Wide Open as Jamus Target Early Qualification, Simba Face Defining Test

The race for a place in the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2026 semi-finals is already heating up after the opening round of Group B matches, with South Sudan’s Jamus SC sitting at the top of the table following a winning start. Simba SC of Tanzania and Somalia’s Mogadishu City Club (MCC) share a point each after playing out a draw, while Singida Black Stars are looking to recover after suffering defeat in their first outing.

Jamus head into Matchday 2 full of confidence and know that another victory against Simba SC on 28 July could put them within touching distance of a place in the knockout stage. However, Simba remain one of the tournament favourites and will be determined to claim all three points to take control of their qualification hopes. The clash promises to be one of the standout fixtures of the group stage.

Earlier in the day, Mogadishu City Club will face Singida Black Stars in a crucial encounter. MCC will be aiming to build on their opening-point performance, while Singida must avoid another defeat to keep their semi-final ambitions alive. A win for either side could dramatically reshape the Group B standings heading into the final round of matches.

Current Group B Standings

  • 🇸🇸 Jamus SC – 3 points
  • 🇹🇿 Simba SC – 1 point
