The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has announced the provisional suspension of two football staff members following incidents that occurred before various league and Peace Cup matches.

In a statement issued on April 24, 2026, FERWAFA stated that, based on the articles of the football code of conduct, a decision was made to provisionally suspend Mr. Olivier Ndatimana, the kit manager for Gorilla FC, following videos and reports regarding his actions before the match between Gorilla FC and Rayon Sports FC in the Peace Cup.
This comes after the news outlet Igihe published a story about Gorilla FC’s Olivier Ndatimana, titled: “Gorilla FC’s Ndatimana poured unidentified substances on the pitch before facing Rayon Sports.” The story sparked much debate among football fans, with some calling for a thorough investigation into what happened during that match.
FERWAFA stated that the employee has been suspended for the duration of the investigation into his conduct, and his file will be presented to the Disciplinary Committee to reach a final decision.
He is not the only one facing disciplinary action, as Japhet Imurora Hakizimana, a strength and conditioning coach at Amagaju FC, has also been provisionally suspended following reports of improper conduct before the league match between Amagaju FC and Musanze FC.
FERWAFA stated that these sanctions are intended to preserve the good image of Rwandan football and to prevent any actions that could cause controversy or cast doubt on the integrity of the competitions.
Football fans continue to await the final decisions that will be made following the ongoing investigation into both employees.
