APR FC Complete Comeback Against Marines FC in Rwanda Premier League Opener

KIGALI, RWANDA — APR FC began their 2026/2027 Rwanda Premier League campaign in winning fashion after coming from two goals down to defeat Marines FC 4–2 in an entertaining opening-day encounter.

Marines FC made a strong start and stunned the defending giants with two goals in the first half.

Sultan Bobo opened the scoring in the 16th minute before Aimé Ntirushwa doubled Marines FC’s advantage in the 34th minute, putting APR FC under significant pressure.

However, APR FC responded before the break through Djibril Ouattara, who pulled one goal back in the 37th minute to give Taleb Abderrahman’s side renewed hope.

After the interval, APR FC completely turned the game around.

Memel Dao brought APR FC level in the 53rd minute before Ouattara struck again in the 63rd minute to complete his brace and put APR FC ahead for the first time.

The comeback was completed in the 83rd minute when Fidali found the net to make it 4–2, sealing three points for APR FC.

26 years without a league win over APR FC

The result also maintained APR FC’s remarkable record against Marines FC in the Rwanda Premier League.

Despite Marines FC having spent 26 years in Rwanda’s top flight, they have yet to record a league victory over APR FC.

Marines FC had entered the match with ambitions of finally ending that long wait, but APR FC’s second-half response once again proved decisive.

For Taleb Abderrahman and his players, the comeback represents an important start to their new league campaign, while Marines FC will be left to reflect on a match in which they led 2–0 but ultimately finished empty-handed.
